The Mighty Mississippi

We are on day 3 of our surprise 5 day weekend due to extremely cold temperatures in our area. The bus companies have been fighting with parents because they don't want to go down certain roads in the winter, making bus stops quite far from home for many young children. I suspect this fight might have had something to do with our 2 canceled days (Monday is already an end of term workshop day). Regardless, it was fun for us to have Tim home with us for a few extra bonus days, and we wasted no time in putting him to work creating a canoe out of his TV box and then using the rest of the box to build bluffs (including area landmarks) along the banks of the river (a blue sheet under Aidan's bed). We made a sun (had a brief fight over if it should be rising on the east wall or setting on the west wall or something in between on the ceiling...west won since it had the best spot open) and clouds and the boys packed a bag with "lunch" (sliced oranges) and a thermos of hot chocolate. They even got out their life vests. Daddy made some fishing poles that we tied magnets to the end of and I put some paper clips on the noses of some construction paper fish. All in all it was quite the adventure!

Holy Cow! TOO CUTE - I'd better not let my boys see this, or they'll be dismantling something to build something else!
