A Camping Weekend

Although I know I promised a shower before blogging... I lied. I promise that a) I don't smell too bad and b) I'm going there next. A shower and then to bed, hopefully in that order. (I did fall asleep in the bathtub once so its not out of the question.)

We love to camp, but unfortunately (due to the nature of the last few summers) haven't had the chance to do much. In fact the cub scout camping trip in May was the first trip for both Caleb and Kylee. We made a somewhat impromptu decision on Thursday to head out this weekend to a campground located very close to the location of the MckBrunch (more on that tomorrow).

The weather was much better than our last trip and fun was had by all! Saturday was a little cool and overcast but there was a neat free naturalist program on pond life (no pictures...camera batteries were dead and Kylee wasn't cooperating anyways so I left early). After the program, Tim and our friend Pat took the boys fishing. Aidan caught three fish and they had so much fun they didn't come back until almost 10:00 at night. They hadn't planned on staying that late and didn't even have a flashlight, but made it back by the light of campfires (although Pat did have to carry a very tired Caleb).

Sunday was absolutely perfect weather. After I got back from the MckBrunch, we headed to the beach where we were the only ones there. Everyone else was packing up camp and heading home, but since we were staying one more night we literally had the whole beach to ourselves. In fact we had the whole campground to ourselves the entire second night. It was such great family time!

Everyone was tired this morning so we headed back sooner than we had planned. We were hoping to hit the nature center at the reserve, but it just wasn't going to happen. In fact the kids were so tired that all three of them fell asleep in the van...at 9:30 in the morning! I stayed awake only to keep Tim awake!

Here are just a *few* of the pictures we took!

The Fisher Dude

The Beach Babe

Kylee absolutely loved the beach. The sand and the water were beckoning her from the minute we put her down! My normally slightly clingy little one crawled right away!

Other Beach Pictures

It wouldn't be camping without campfires and food

Naked baby escaping from a tent

My husband in a tree

Did you find him? He's about half way up and all the way on the top is the boys' boomerang.

Checking on some baby Bluebirds (with naturalist permission)

And, finally...
Remember how helpful the boys were unpacking at home?

They were equally so loading the van to leave.

(sorry for so many pictures in one post)

Glad you had fun (and that Tim didn't fall out of that tree!) Stuff like that makes me so nervous!

Yeah...

He was standing up there saying, "At least I have health insurance."

I was thinking, "At least you have life insurance!"

What a fun trip to experience with your family! I'm adding your blog to my reader-- I work in a Montessori school, so I look forward to learning more about you & your family- and Montessori!
