For those visiting my blog for the first time, I am Heidi. I started this blog in the fall of 2008 as a way to keep track of the extra curricular activities I was doing with my then preschooler and kindergartener, who for various reasons weren't thriving in the school setting. We had been considering homsechool for some time, but due to the death of our daughter Kenna in August of 2007 we put our two sons in school and left them there for lack of a better idea. After seeing how well they did at home part time, however, we completed the transition and moved them out of school permenately in January of 2009. I am a former early childhood teacher and program director and my husband is a licensed teacher and certified Montessori guide. Our approach to home education is somewhat different than many others but anyone who gets to know us, knows this it works great for us! (I'm actually currently working on a post about WHY it works so well for us.) Topically, this is a somewhat seasonal blog... during the school year I had lots of homeschool updates and information including DIY project instructions and philosophy and background posts. Now during the summer we are out in the garden, so there goes the blogging as well. The blog goes where we go!
