In the middle of our camping trip (or scroll down), I headed to an amazing little restaurant for the MckBrunch, hosted by MckMama.

The first thing I have to say is that I absolutely still cannot believe I did this. Spending my morning with 40 some women I had never met in real life was just not a me thing to do. I don't know what it was the encouraged me to go for it. I have met a friend from online in person on one other occasion, but I knew her much better than I can even pretend to know Jennifer (MckMama) or the other ladies at the event (even after meeting them).

That being said, I had a fantastic time! I was worried it would be cliquey with people who had known Jennifer for longer or there would be some sort of in-crowd of popular bloggers. Neither turned out to be true. I sat at a table with 6 other women, none of whom knew anyone else at the table prior to the picnic the day before. (And for the record, none of them knew exactly what motivated them to come either.)

The conversation was fantastic and real. Chit chat obviously dictated much of the morning, but it was real get-to-know-you kind of chit chat. People were making connections all over the place. The gal I sat across from knows a woman from our area that I know quite well (she has had two students in Tim's class and we buy all of our eggs from her...her oldest daughter even babysits for us from time to time). I met another mom, Heather, who used to volunteer with an organization that I am involved with. I heard talk of one group getting together to go camping and there have been emails out and about this morning with talk of playdates. When I got home and looked through the list we did of attendees, I had visited several of the blogs before ever going, I just didn't recognize them when we were there!

I did determine after looking through some other blogs from this day, that I either need a new camera or photography lessons. Granted, I was holding Kylee when I took all my pictures, but still. Wow! You should look through some of the other posts (they are all on MckMama's site), just because the pictures are so amazing! Here are mine to add to the bunch!

Jennifer doing what Jennifer does!

This would be the spot vacated by Kylee and I...I'm noticing looking at the picture that I picked a poor time to take a picture since several other people were missing from the table as well!

Thank you, Miss Kylee for sleeping through most of the was so nice not to have to share. I'm not sure Pam would agree, however, after you spilled Mommy's water in her lap before the meal even started!

Lori made bracelets for everyone who attended. I wore mine the rest of the weekend, even though we were camping. What a thoughtful thing to do!

All in all, the food was fantastic (Jenna has the best food pictures I have seen so far), the company and conversation even better, and I would absolutely do it again if given the chance. In all honesty, my only regret at this point is not going to the picnic the day before.

Oh well...there is always next year, right?

Because, come on...there needs to be a next year!

Glad you had fun - good for you for going. I've been on Heather's blog before as I got an email from her once w/ her blog attached.

Great post Heidi!!! You summed it all up really beautifully...I felt that same as you! Although, at my table, a lot of her IRL friends were there, so I DID feel a bit as if I were a stalker blogger...but I got over that pretty fast!

Blessings to you!

It was great to meet you! I have some cute pictures of Kylee I need to send your way.

And her spilling water on me was not a big deal. Like I said, if water is the worst thing I get on me in a day, I'm going good (for those that don't know - I work with animals, so I often get covered in all sorts of "interesting" stuff).

Yes there does need to be a next year, perhaps a next month? And now there is even a next week!! Exciting!
I love your post, look forward to seeing you again!

It's so cool that you got to go! I would have been slightly nervous too, but I'm sure everyone was in the same spot! What a cool thing to attend :)
