Cub Scout Camping in Considerably Calmer Climates

If the title of this post doesn't make sense to you, you should read my post from the Cub Scout graduation camp out last year. The differences between the pictures alone are striking. Instead of 30 degrees overnight, we had 60s. It was fantastic!

This highlights from this year included rope making, the GPS hike, and watching a movie as a Pack with a projector on the side of a building. Overall, I thought the kids kept much busier this year. In fact, we barely saw Aidan as he was always off with his friends! Caleb enjoyed participating with the big kids in rope making and even managed the 1 mile GPS hike.

Our new camping equipment worked out quite nicely. Our family really fills up a tent quickly! I have to admit I was nervous about sleeping on the ground (we aren't air mattress type of campers) at 33 weeks pregnant, but it went really well once I figured out that the extra pillow I brought for my back worked better under my hip and belly. It was tiring though...I admit to taking a long nap when we got home!

We will be sad to miss this tradition next year. Hopefully our new pack will have a family campout at some point. If not, we may have to start organizing one. :)

I went camping last month with the cub scouts as well being 7 months pregnant and a cot was a true blessing for me. I'm impressed b/c I would not have tried just sleeping bags even w/o being pregnant....LOL

I remember my grandpa helping my older brother build one of those rope makers. We thought it was the coolest thing ever.
