Two weeks ago tomorrow (Monday), we arrived to an empty slate.
With very little to fill the space.
Tomorrow we will start school.
We haven't done real school since March 22nd.
I know the date well because I have written it on 18,000 insurance forms (roughly speaking).
There will be time later this week to share my plans, curriculum, goals, and other thoughts but for today I wanted to share our school area pictures. All of these shleves (except 1, which I will explain) are in our common living room and dining room areas. When I take you on our house tour (soon, I promise) you will be able to see them easily.
Family & School Organization Headquarters
Living Books For Current History, Geography, & Science Focal Areas
Infant & Toddler Shelves (Kylee only for now)
Logan's Movement Area
Practical Life & Sensorial (Rotating)/ Work Rugs
Main Work Area & Geography/Science Shelf
Close Up of Science/Geography Shelf
(And 2 Random Sensorial Works)
(Also rotating materials to Focus Areas)
Math & Language
(Located behind a baby gate in Daddy's Office because toddlers can do too much damage too quickly to things like the moveable alphabet, beads, & hundred board tiles)
You may notice I still have a few things to order (mainly math materials), but they are on the way and we can start with other things first. I've been slowly adding things to the shelves over the last week instead of putting them out all at once, and when some old favorites came out there were some very excited little boys. The night I added the work rugs, Aidan and Caleb spent almost an hour simply rolling rugs. Tonight when I added more materials they both had rugs out with favorite works and were telling me what they are planning to do first tomorrow.
They are easily as excited as I am!
If you see something you want to know more about, be sure to let me know because I love answering questions about our environment and materials!
