The *List*

Every mom has a list of things she wants or needs to finish before she has a baby.  Even if it isn't written down, I promise every mom-to-be has such a list!

High on my list of things to do, was to get through my first midterm towards my black belt.  I have been taking Tae Kwon Do since January of 2011 and I am only 2 testings away now from earning my black belt.  I never would have guessed it would become so important to me, but it certainly has.  I have met amazing people and really enjoyed the activity itself more than I predicted I would.  It is a great mom activity and I highly recommend it both for it's social outlet and fitness component.

During this pregnancy I tested a total of 4 times, at 5 weeks (the day after I found out I was expecting), 14 weeks,  23 weeks, and again this weekend at 32.  I even competed in a regional tournament at 20 weeks!

Being the camera is *mine* there are no pictures from me testing, but really no one wants to see me in my doughboy suit at this point... for some reason it just doesn't tie quite right!  I can't imagine.  Tim, Aidan, Caleb, and Kylee all tested as well, however, and I definitely have lots of pictures of the kids!!

On a side note, Tae Kwon Do has been such a blessing to my Caleb.  He just thrives under the structure and expectations of the program and has been able to achieve everything right as it was designed, without any modifications.  In fact, he moved from the Tiger ranks to the Junior ranks a year early and did fantastic in the regional tournament last April.  Sometimes (the night of testing actually) he is a little bit off and everyone just goes with it for him and truthfully loves him all the more for his funny quirks.  In two weeks he is going to try his hand at a week of day camp and all of the staff have been great about coming up with a plan to keep him on track and help him if he gets overwhelmed!  As part of the week he will be allowed to test for his next belt early and if he is successful he will move to the rank of recommended black belt by his birthday in November and be a black belt in May of 2013.  A huge accomplishment for him to be sure!

Oh and I promise when I earn my black belt I will share a photo of myself :)
