I just love your low snack table WITH the tablecloth! So elegant.

Are you using any formal curriculum to transition to cursive?

I just have a few cursive shape tracing exercises I grabbed off of the donna young site and then we have a cursive moveable alphabet and the "Intro to Cursive" App on our iPad from Montessorium. Both Kylee (5) and Caleb (8) have been working on it this week and are really enjoying it. With Kylee, she segments a word and I write it in a yellow marker and then she writes over my writing with her pencil. With Caleb, he spells the words with the moveable alphabet and then watches me write it and then he copies.

I probably should just do complete cursive from the start, but I didn't do that with my oldest so my materials don't match up and it's a lot of work to change them at this point!

I hear you on that last point. Both T and S did not learn cursive first. I am hoping, crossing my fingers, to do this with little D. T can do the copying. S needs to trace. T can read pretty well in cursive, but S is just beginning to read so we'll see how that all shakes out., thanks for sharing!
