This week we are reviewing Goodnight Ark by Laura Sassi. Goodnight Ark is a fun rhyming board book. Published by Zondervan, this book is written by Laura Sassi and illustrated by Jane Chapman (who may be familiar for her illustration of Bear Snores On). The illustrations are colorful and enchanting and full of fun details like striped socks for Noah.
When it's bedtime on the ark, Noah tucks everyone in for the night and tries to go to sleep. Until one by one the animals find their way into Noah's bed (sound familiar?!) and eventually the bed breaks. At which point, the animals finally settle down and head to bed all in a pile (again, familiar?!).
I would call it the perfect board book for toddlers, although it might be a stretch to call it a good bedtime book because it kind of winds up Miss Lucie. She's actually learned a couple of new animals, such as boar and quail that aren't exactly typical board book animals. This has definitely made its way into our favorite rotation. In fact, I kept having to steal it back because I keep the books I haven't written reviews for separate so I don't miss them. She kept coming into the office and climbing up to take it!
In exchange for an honest review, I was provided a free copy of this book through the BookLook Bloggers review program. All opinions are my own.
